5/13/24 - 2 Mississippi high school students killed in shooting on Mother’s Day - COPIAH CO., Miss. (WLBT) - The names of two teenagers who were shot and killed on a Mississippi interstate on Mother’s Day have now been released.
4/26/24 - Gun found in Ridgeland High School student’s backpack, school district says - RIDGELAND, Miss. —An investigation is underway after a Madison County student brought a gun to school.
2/13/24 - Raymond High students report an individual with gun on school grounds to school officials - Hinds County School District officials said Raymond High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday following reports from students stating they saw an individual carrying a gun.
11/22/23 - High school football player dead after drive-by shooting in Holmes County - GOODMAN, Miss. (WLBT) - A drive-by shooting at noon in Goodman led to the death of a 17-year-old high school football player and injuries to three others.
11/11/23 - Gunfire at Escambia Co. High School basketball game: Accidental discharge sends two to hospital - ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Miss. (WPMI) — According to the Escambia Cp. AL Sheriff's Office, on November 9, 2023, Escambia County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Atmore Police Officers responded to a report of a weapon being discharged at Escambia County High School inside the gym during a basketball game.
8/18/23 - Foreign bomb threat called in to Canton Elementary School - CANTON, Miss. (WLBT) - Everyone is safe after a foreign bomb threat was called in to a local school Friday morning.
8/12/23 - Shooting at Starkville High School under investigation - STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA)- Starkville police are investigating a shooting at Starkville High School.
4/12/23 - Metal detector finds gun in student's backpack. Lives might have been saved. What we know. - A metal detector discovered a gun inside a student's backpack at Forest Hill High School on Wednesday, according to Jackson Public School officials.
3/2/23 - Richland school threat that led to lockdown under investigation - RICHLAND, Miss. —Two Richland schools were placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a call came in about a possible gun on campus.
1/21/23 - Student arrested for bringing gun to Harrison County school - HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - A teenager was arrested after authorities learned he brought a gun to school Friday.
12/26/22 - How is Mississippi responding to the threat of school shootings? - Armed teachers, keycard locks, and lockdown buttons — these are just a few of the ideas and facility updates school districts are exploring as a way to protect campuses from the rising threat of school shootings.
12/15/22 - 3 students found with weapons at North Mississippi high school, sheriff says - The three students were found in possession of weapons at Coldwater High School, according to Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance.
12/14/22 - Gun found in student’s backpack at Pascagoula school - PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) - A Jackson County school district is assuring parents that all students are safe after a gun was brought to school on Wednesday.

12/1/22 - Stone High student charged with bringing a gun to school - STONE COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - Stone County School Superintendent Inita Owen says it was the best possible outcome for a terrible situation. One day after a student brought a loaded gun to the Stone High School campus, Owen praised students and staff for how they handled the incident.
11/12/22 - Hinds County sheriff investigating shooting at Raymond High School - RAYMOND, Miss. —The Hinds County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred at Raymond High School Friday night.
10/7/22 - DeSoto County students, staff safe after threat ‘not credible’ - DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. (WMC) - Schools across Mississippi are experiencing several calls regarding active shooters on school campuses.
10/3/22 - Threat against Rankin County students leads to school lockdown - FLOWOOD, Miss. — A threat led to a lockdown Monday at Northwest Rankin middle and high schools.
9/27/22 - Investigation underway after ‘intruders’ with weapon enter Wingfield High School - JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - “Intruders” entered Wingfield High School with a weapon Tuesday afternoon, causing classrooms in the school to be placed on alert.
